Raymarine DockSense Alert Technology to be Available on Select 2021 Boston Whaler Boat Models

Unique assisted-docking solution to be demonstrated at 2020 Miami International Boat Show

Docking a boat can be a stressful event. Wind, currents and unfamiliar surroundings can conspire to test the skills of even the most experienced captains. Resulting scrapes, impacts and close calls at the dock can be both embarrassing and expensive.

Similar to the driver-assist capabilities of today’s modern automobiles, the Raymarine DockSenseTM Alert system detects, displays, and alerts the captain to obstacles around the boat using FLIR machine vision camera technology and video analytics. The DockSense Alert system consists of an array of three DockSense stereo vision cameras and a central processor connected to a Raymarine Axiom display or network. DockSense Alert accurately measures distances to the dock, pilings, and other moored vessels, and provides real-time visual indicators along with a live camera view on Raymarine Axiom multifunction displays. The system also provides audible and visual feedback to alert the captain in real-time to the proximity of objects near the boat.

Boston Whaler, the leading manufacturer of unsinkable family fishing boats, has announced plans to offer the Raymarine DockSense Alert system as a factory-installed option on select 2021 model-year boats beginning later this year. The partnership with Raymarine is an example of Boston Whaler’s ongoing commitment to offer technologies to its customers that make boating easier, less stressful and more fun.

Visitors at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show will have the opportunity to experience Raymarine DockSense Alert technology onboard a Mercury-powered Boston Whaler 380 Outrage at Pier 8, Slip 879.
