FLIR Thermal Cameras First To Integrate With Autoware

The FLIR automotive development kit (ADK) thermal camera for self-driving vehicles and its free starter thermal dataset are now compatible with Autoware, the world's first and most distributed "all-in-one" open-source software for self-driving vehicles.

FLIR is the first thermal camera provider to integrate with Autoware, enabling developers and engineers to test FLIR thermal technology in coordination with existing autonomous vehicle sensor inputs including LIDAR, radar, GPS, visible cameras, and more. The free starter thermal dataset, with more than 14,000 annotated thermal images, enables developers to start training their algorithms in a cost-effective manner.

Autoware provides a rich set of resources composed of sensing, computing, and actuation capabilities. Beginning today, Autoware users have the option to integrate plug-and-play thermal sensing technology into their respective self-driving vehicle testing. Autoware also provides a simulation environment for those who don’t have a test vehicle available.
